Novorozeat, also known as Novorozhestvo, is a traditional Russian holiday celebrated on January 6th or 7th, marking the birth of Jesus Christ. The term "Novorozeat" is derived from the Russian words "novy" meaning new, and "rozhestvo" meaning birth. The holiday is a significant event in the Russian Orthodox Church calendar, and it is celebrated with various rituals and customs.

On the eve of Novorozeat, families gather to prepare a special meal, known as "Kolyada," which includes dishes like blinis, honey cakes, and various meats. The meal is often accompanied by traditional songs and carols, such as "Kolyadka," which are sung to honor the birth of Christ.

One of the most distinctive customs of Novorozeat is the "Kolyadka," a ritual where a group of men, known as "Kolyadniki," dressed in traditional costumes, visit households to sing carols and bring gifts. The Kolyadniki are believed to bring good luck and prosperity for the coming year.

Families and friends exchange small gifts, such as sweets, toys, and decorative items, symbolizing the spirit of generosity and goodwill. The most popular gift is a "Kolyadka," a small wooden figurine of a baby Jesus, which is placed on the Christmas tree.
