Notorietatea refers to the state of being widely known or famous, often for something negative. It's a concept closely related to reputation, but typically carries a connotation of being known for undesirable actions or characteristics. While fame is generally neutral or positive, notoriety implies a darker shade of public awareness. Someone or something can achieve notoriety through criminal activity, scandal, public disgrace, or widespread disapproval.
