Norderstedt

Norderstedt is a town in the district of Segeberg, in Schleswig-Holstein, Germany. It lies immediately north of Hamburg and is part of the Hamburg metropolitan region. The town is one of the larger urban centers in Schleswig-Holstein and serves as a residential and commercial hub for the northern suburbs of Hamburg.

Norderstedt developed in the second half of the 20th century as a planned community to accommodate housing and economic growth around Hamburg. It was established in its current form during municipal reforms in the 1960s and 1970s, incorporating several neighboring communities.

As of recent years, the population is around 80,000 residents. The town is governed by a mayor and a city council.
