Niuafoou is a remote volcanic island located in the northernmost part of the Kingdom of Tonga. It is the last of the three islands in the Niua-group, lying about 330 kilometers north of Vava'u and over 600 kilometers north of Tongatapu. The island is roughly circular with a diameter of approximately 8 kilometers and a total land area of about 49 square kilometers.
