Nishat

Nishat is a Mughal garden located in Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir, India. It was built by Yousaf Khan, a contractor to Mughal Emperor Jahangir, in 1633. The garden is situated on the eastern side of the famous Dal Lake and is a part of a group of four Mughal gardens in the Srinagar region, known as the Mughal Gardens of Srinagar.

The name "Nishat" means "tranquility" in Persian, which reflects the garden's serene and peaceful atmosphere. Nishat Bagh is a masterpiece of Mughal horticulture and is said to have been built on a site that offers breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape. The garden is divided into two main sections: the lower and upper gardens.

The lower garden features a beautiful canal, waterfalls, and ornate fountains, while the upper garden offers panoramic views of the nearby Pir Panjal mountain range. The garden is also home to a magnificent pavilion built in the center, known as the pavilion of Nishat Bagh. This pavilion was constructed using stone and stucco work and is adorned with intricate floral and geometric patterns.

Nishat is one of the most popular tourist attractions in Srinagar and attracts thousands of visitors each year. It is a testament to the Mughal era's architectural and horticultural grandeur and a must-visit destination for anyone interested in history, architecture, and natural beauty. The garden is open to visitors throughout the year and is maintained by the Jammu and Kashmir government.
