Nintendons

Nintendons are a type of electronic tennis racket designed for home and court use. Developed by the Swedish company, PowaBlock in the early 1980s, the original Nintendon was released in 1985. The Nintendon was the first of its kind, a motion-controlled tennis racket that employed sensors and motors to mimic the motion of a real tennis swing.

The Nintendon used a combination of electro-magnetic and pneumatic forces to replicate the feeling of playing tennis. It featured a detachable net-like mechanism that generated the ball bouncing motion, ensuring a realistic tennis experience. Users held the Nintendon at the desired speed and angle, and the built-in intelligence adapted to their inputs to create the sensation of a tennis match.

The Nintendon was marketed primarily to beginners and enthusiasts who wanted to hone their skills without the need for a full court setup. It was marketed as an improved alternative to simple swing pads and electronic training aids.
