Nightborn

The Nightborne are a race of arcane-addicted elves in the world of Warcraft. They originated from the night elf civilization that inhabited the continent of Kalimdor before the Sundering. After the Sundering, a group of night elves, led by Thalyssra, chose to remain in their city of Suramar, rather than migrate with the rest of their kin. To protect themselves from the ensuing chaos and to sustain their connection to the arcane, they began to draw power from the arcane artifact known as the Nightwell. This prolonged exposure to the Nightwell's potent magic caused them to physically change over thousands of years, developing a distinctive blue-tinged skin, white hair, and glowing arcane markings.

Initially, the Nightborne were isolationist, viewing the outside world as corrupt and dangerous. Their society was structured around the study and use of magic, with a strict social hierarchy. However, this isolation was shattered when the Burning Legion invaded Azeroth. The Legion, led by the demon lord Gul'dan, sought to conquer Suramar and enslave its inhabitants. The Nightborne, under Thalyssra's leadership, fought back fiercely. They eventually allied with the mortal races of the Horde and the Alliance, who were also fighting the Legion. This alliance proved crucial in driving the demons from Suramar and freeing the Nightborne from their servitude. Following the defeat of the Legion, the Nightborne officially joined the Horde, seeking a new future and a place among other races. Their culture is deeply rooted in arcane lore, artistry, and a history of resilience.
