Neurorradiologists
Neuroradiologists are radiologists who specialize in diseases of the nervous system. They interpret imaging studies of the brain, spine, head and neck, and may be involved in both diagnostic and interventional work. They use technologies such as magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), computed tomography (CT), CT and MR angiography, and ultrasound to diagnose conditions including stroke, tumors, chronic pain syndromes, vascular malformations, infections, and traumatic injuries. In many centers, neuroradiology departments provide imaging for neurology, neurosurgery, oncology, and other specialties, and work as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Interventional neuroradiology, a subspecialty of neuroradiology, uses image guidance to treat disorders via endovascular or percutaneous
Practicing neuroradiologists work in academic medical centers, tertiary hospitals, and community imaging centers. Their responsibilities include
