Netzneutralität

Netzneutralität, also known as net neutrality, is the principle that Internet service providers (ISPs) must treat all data on the internet the same and not discriminate or charge differently by user, content, website, platform, application, type of attached equipment, or method of communication. This means that ISPs cannot block, slow down, or prioritize certain internet traffic over others.

The concept of net neutrality is based on the idea that the internet should be an open platform where all users and content providers have equal access. Proponents argue that net neutrality fosters innovation, competition, and freedom of speech by preventing ISPs from acting as gatekeepers. Opponents of strict net neutrality regulations often argue that they stifle investment in network infrastructure. They contend that ISPs should be able to manage their networks efficiently, which might include prioritizing certain types of traffic or offering different service tiers. Some also argue that the market is competitive enough to prevent ISPs from engaging in discriminatory practices.
