Nerang

Nerang is a suburb of the Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia. It is located approximately 70 kilometers south-east of Brisbane and 20 kilometers north-west of Surfers Paradise. The suburb is situated on the Nerang River, which is a significant geographical feature.

Historically, Nerang was a significant river port and a centre for timber milling and agriculture. Its name is derived from the Yugambeh Aboriginal word "nerang-nerang", believed to mean "sharp" or "pointy", possibly referring to the sharp bend in the river or the surrounding hills. The first European settlement in the area dates back to the 1860s.

Today, Nerang is a diverse community with a mix of residential, commercial, and light industrial areas. It serves as a hub for the northern Gold Coast and offers a range of amenities including shopping centres, schools, and recreational facilities. The Nerang National Park is a popular destination for bushwalking and mountain biking. The suburb benefits from its strategic location, providing relatively easy access to both the Gold Coast's beaches and hinterland.
