Nemválaszolási

Nemválaszolási is a Hungarian term used to describe the act or phenomenon of nonresponse—the failure to answer or reply to inquiries, questions, or requests. The word is built from the verb válaszol (to answer) with the negation nem and the nominalizing suffix -ás; the attributive form nemválaszolási is used to describe related concepts (for example nemválaszolási arány or nemválaszolási torzítás).

In research and surveys, nemválaszolási arány denotes the share of respondents who do not answer or who drop out of a study or questionnaire. Nemválaszolási torzítás, or nonresponse bias, occurs when respondents differ systematically from nonrespondents, potentially biasing estimates. Addressing nonresponse often involves follow-up contacts, weighting, or imputation strategies to reduce bias and improve the representativeness of results.

In other domains, the term can describe behavior in communications more generally, such as delaying or avoiding responses to emails or messages. While often discussed in statistical and methodological contexts, nemválaszolási phenomena can also be relevant to policy, program evaluation, and customer relations, where timely and complete responses are valued.
