Nedströmskällo

Nedströmskällo is a term used in hydrology and fluid dynamics that translates roughly from Swedish as "downstream source" or "downstream spring." It refers to a point within a watercourse where water emerges or becomes significantly more abundant from a source that is located downstream of the observation point. This contrasts with the more common understanding of a source being upstream.

Such a phenomenon can occur due to several geological or hydrological factors. One possibility is a complex underground aquifer system where water flows in unexpected directions, potentially resurfacing at a lower elevation. Another is the influence of subterranean tributaries or springs that feed into the main channel from below.
