Nebennavigation
Nebennavigation refers to a navigation system that operates using a secondary or auxiliary method to the primary navigation system. This approach is often employed to provide redundancy, enhance accuracy, or facilitate operation in environments where the primary system may be compromised. For example, in aviation, a primary GPS system might be augmented by an inertial navigation system (INS). If GPS signals are jammed or unavailable, the INS can continue to provide positional data, albeit with a degree of drift over time.
The concept of nebennavigation is not limited to aviation. In maritime contexts, a vessel might use radar
In essence, nebennavigation provides a fallback or supplementary capability, ensuring that navigation can continue even when
