Ndërtuesi

Ndërtuesi is Albanian for builder or constructor and refers to a person, company, or organization that plans, coordinates, and carries out construction projects. The term derives from the verb ndërto, meaning to build, with the agent suffix -ues, yielding ndërtuesi, “the builder.” It can denote a contractor, developer, or master builder, depending on the context.

A ndërtuesi plans, supervises, and manages construction activities. Responsibilities include contract negotiation, procurement of materials, management of subcontractors, and ensuring compliance with drawings, specifications, safety standards, and applicable laws. The role often requires coordinating with architects, engineers, and authorities to deliver projects on time and within budget.

There are specialized forms of ndërtuesi, such as ndërtues rezidencial (residential builder), ndërtues komercial (commercial builder), and ndërtues civil (civil works contractor). In everyday language, the term is frequently used interchangeably with contractor or builder, although some projects may require a licensed contractor or development company.

In Albanian-speaking regions, the ndërtuesi plays a central role in housing production and infrastructure development and operates under building codes, zoning regulations, and procurement rules. The quality and safety of construction depend on the competence, oversight, and ethical standards of the ndërtuesi, as well as on effective supervision by professionals and authorities.
