NavICtä

NavICtä is a satellite-based navigation system developed by the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO). It is designed to provide accurate real-time positioning and timing services over India and its surrounding regions. The system consists of a constellation of satellites in geostationary and geosynchronous orbits, along with ground control stations and user receivers.

The primary objective of NavICtä is to enhance the country's navigational capabilities and reduce dependence on foreign navigation systems. It offers services such as Standard Positioning Service (SPS) for civilian users and Restricted Service (RS) for authorized users. NavICtä provides two levels of service: the Standard Positioning Service (SPS) and the Restricted Service (RS).

The Standard Positioning Service (SPS) is available to all users and provides a position accuracy of better than 20 meters. The Restricted Service (RS) is available only to authorized users and provides a position accuracy of better than 10 meters. NavICtä also offers a timing service with a precision of better than 50 nanoseconds.

The system has several applications, including terrestrial, aerial, and marine navigation, disaster management, vehicle tracking, and mapping and geodetic data capture. NavICtä is expected to play a crucial role in India's infrastructure development, transportation, and communication sectors. The system is also expected to have strategic implications for national security and defense.
