Nanochannels

Nanochannels are extremely small fluid conduits with at least one dimension measuring between 1 and 100 nanometers. These microscopic structures exist at the intersection of nanotechnology and fluid mechanics, exhibiting unique properties that differ significantly from conventional macroscopic channels.

The behavior of fluids in nanochannels is governed by different physical principles compared to larger-scale systems. Nanochannels also play important roles in filtration systems, enabling the separation of molecules based on size, and in energy storage devices like batteries and supercapacitors.

Research in nanochannel technology continues to advance our understanding of nanoscale fluid dynamics and transport phenomena. Scientists are exploring their potential in water desalination, molecular sieving, and as components in next-generation electronic cooling systems.
