Namsos

Namsos is a town and municipality in Trøndelag county, Norway, located in the Namdalen region. The town sits at the mouth of the Namsen river where it flows into the Namsosfjord. It is the administrative centre of Namsos municipality, which covers the urban area and surrounding rural districts.

Historically, the area has been closely tied to forestry and river transport. Timber and related industries played a central role in its development, and the town has long served as a local market and services hub for Namdalen. In recent decades the economy has diversified, with services, education, healthcare, small-scale industry, and tourism contributing to growth.
