Nakedviruksilla is a term derived from Finnish that refers to a class of viruses that lack an external lipid envelope, also known as non-enveloped or naked viruses. These viruses are characterized by a capsid composed of protein subunits that encases the viral genome. Because they do not possess an envelope, nakedviruksilla are typically more resistant to desiccation, pH variations, and disinfectants compared to enveloped viruses. The capsid structure often provides a protective shell that can remain stable in harsh environmental conditions, allowing these viruses to persist on surfaces and in water for extended periods.
