Nachholbedarf
Nachholbedarf is a German noun describing the need to close a deficit or backlog in relation to a reference level, target, or peer group. It combines nachholen, "to catch up," and Bedarf, "need" or "requirement." In policy discussions it denotes gaps that should be addressed by action, investment, or reform.
