Nabawi

Nabawi is an Arabic nisba meaning "of the Prophet" or "Prophetic." It is used as an adjective to describe things connected with the Prophet Muhammad or his era. The term is formed from Nabi (prophet) with the suffix -i, and it often appears in names and titles referring to Prophet Muhammad or to Medina and its sacred sites.

In Islamic usage, Nabawi denotes items related to the Prophet or his tradition. It is most commonly seen in reference to Masjid an-Nabawi, known as the Prophet's Mosque, located in Medina, Saudi Arabia. The mosque was established by Muhammad after the Hijra and has grown through successive renovations and expansions. It is regarded as the second holiest site in Islam after the Grand Mosque in Mecca. The complex contains the tomb of Muhammad, a shrine area that is traditionally indicated by the Green Dome, and it serves as a major pilgrimage and devotional site in addition to daily worship for Muslims.

Beyond religious contexts, Nabawi also appears as a surname and in various geographic or institutional names to denote a connection with the Prophet or Medina.
