NL8

NL8 refers to the eight-pole version of Neutrik’s SpeakON locking connector family. SpeakON connectors are widely used in professional audio to connect loudspeakers and amplifiers, offering a secure, locking connection and a defined pinout. The NL8 variant provides eight conductors in a single connector, enabling multi-channel or higher-current speaker applications such as bi-amplified loudspeakers or multi-channel speaker runs.

In practice, NL8 connectors are offered in two genders: NL8M (male plug) and NL8F (female receptacle). They are designed to withstand the rigors of touring and installation work, featuring a circular metal shell and a locking mechanism that prevents accidental disconnection. The NL-series is commonly used for portable PA setups, fixed installations, and stage monitoring, often as part of a cable-and-plug configuration for professional audio gear. The connectors are valued for durability, ease of use, and protection against incorrect connections due to polarization and locking.

The NL8 is one member of the Neutrik NL series, which also includes NL2, NL4, and NL16. While NL2 and NL4 are favored for simpler two- or four-conductor applications, NL8 offers additional conductors for more complex wiring needs and higher current capability within a single connector.
