NEXCOs
NEXCO stands for Nippon Expressway Company Limited. It is a group of companies responsible for the operation and maintenance of most of the expressways in Japan. Following the privatization of the Japan Highway Public Corporation in 2005, NEXCO was established to manage the national expressway network. There are three main NEXCO companies, each covering a different region of Japan: NEXCO EAST, NEXCO CENTRAL, and NEXCO WEST.
These companies are tasked with a wide range of duties. These include the construction of new expressways,
