NBBU

NBBU stands for Nederlandse Bond van Bemiddelings- en Uitzendondernemingen and is a Dutch employers’ association representing a large network of temporary employment agencies and intermediary firms operating in the Netherlands. The organization functions as a sectoral voice in public policy discussions, labor-market regulation, and the development of industry standards for the flexible employment sector.

A core role of NBBU is to negotiate and administer sector agreements, most notably the national collective labour agreement for temporary agency work. It collaborates with trade unions and other social partners to shape terms and conditions of employment for temporary workers, and it provides guidance to member companies on compliance with Dutch labor law, payroll, social security, and related regulations. In addition to bargaining, NBBU offers advisory services, training programs, and quality guidelines intended to support responsible recruitment, ethical practices, and professional management within member organizations.

NBBU operates alongside other employer associations in the Netherlands, most notably ABU, and maintains dialogue with major unions such as FNV and CNV as part of the broader bargaining framework for the staffing sector. It also engages with European and international bodies that represent the staffing and human resources services industry, contributing to cross-border standards and advocacy.

Governance typically rests on a board elected from member companies, with regional representation and committees focused on areas such as compliance, training, and member services.
