Näyttämötyössä refers to the various tasks and responsibilities involved in the practical realization of a stage production. This encompasses a wide range of activities, from the initial design and construction of sets to the technical operation of lighting, sound, and stage machinery during performances. It is a collaborative effort that requires the combined skills of many individuals to bring a theatrical vision to life.

The work typically begins in the rehearsal period with technical staff collaborating with the director and designers. Set construction, prop creation, and costume fitting are all part of the build-up. Once the production moves into the theatre space, the focus shifts to technical rehearsals. During these sessions, lighting cues are programmed, sound effects and music are integrated, and scene changes are rehearsed to ensure smooth transitions.

Stagehands are responsible for the physical execution of scene changes, moving scenery and props on and off stage. Lighting technicians operate the lighting board, following the lighting designer's cues, while sound technicians manage microphones, sound effects, and music playback. Stage managers oversee the entire technical operation, ensuring that the show runs according to schedule and that all technical elements are functioning correctly.
