Mõõterõngasid

Mõõterõngasid, often translated as measuring rings or gauge rings, are precision measuring tools used for verifying the dimensions of external features, most commonly the diameter of shafts, pins, or other cylindrical parts. They are essentially solid rings with a precisely machined internal diameter.

There are two main types of mõõterõngasid: plain and threaded. Plain gauge rings are used for checking the outer diameter of non-threaded cylindrical parts. Threaded gauge rings are designed to check the pitch diameter and the effective diameter of external threads. These threaded rings typically have internal threads that match the thread form and pitch of the part being inspected.

The primary function of a mõõterõngas is to act as a go/no-go gauge. A "go" ring is machined to the maximum allowable limit of the dimension being checked. If the part can pass through or thread into the "go" ring, it means the dimension is within the acceptable upper limit. A "no-go" ring is machined to the minimum allowable limit. If the "no-go" ring fails to pass onto or into the part, it indicates that the dimension is within the acceptable lower limit. Together, the go and no-go rings establish a clear tolerance band for the part's dimension.

Mõõterõngasid are made from hardened tool steel or other wear-resistant materials to ensure their accuracy and longevity. They are calibrated and certified to maintain their precision over time. Their use is widespread in manufacturing, machining, and quality control environments to ensure interchangeability and proper fit of components.
