It is not typically used as a stand-alone dictionary entry in modern Hungarian; rather it is a functional building block within the language’s system of suffixes that express possibility or capability. In practice, the form most commonly seen in texts is módosítható, which means modifiable or capable of being modified. The bare form módosíthat thus often appears only as part of longer inflected forms or in linguistic discussions about the structure of verb derivation.

Formation and meaning are tied to the suffix -ható/-hető, which attaches to a verb stem to convey potentiality or possibility. When -ható/-hető is added to a stem like módosít, the resulting adjective-like form signals that the action or state described by the verb can occur or be undergone.
