It is a graphical representation of distance on a map or plan, allowing users to visually estimate real-world distances. Unlike a numerical scale, which might be a ratio (e.g., 1:100,000) or a verbal statement (e.g., "1 inch to 1 mile"), a méretaránysáv provides a direct visual aid.
