Mäntyniemi

Mäntyniemi is the official residence of the President of Finland, located in Helsinki on the western shore of the Gulf of Finland in the Meilahti district. Since the mid-1990s it has served as the president’s home and primary workplace, replacing the former residence Kesäranta.

The estate comprises a main residence along with auxiliary buildings and administrative facilities, set in a landscaped area with security measures appropriate for a head of state’s residence. Mäntyniemi is used for official duties, receptions, and hosting foreign dignitaries, as well as for preparing state visits and other ceremonial events.

Access to Mäntyniemi is restricted. The grounds are not generally open to the public, though the exterior surroundings can be viewed from nearby areas, and some official ceremonies may be held at or around the site. The design and layout are intended to balance privacy and security with the functional needs of a modern presidential workplace, enabling both private residence functions and formal state activities.
