Mysoline
Mysoline, also known by its generic name primidone, is an anticonvulsant medication primarily used to treat epilepsy. It is also sometimes prescribed for essential tremor. Primidone is a deoxybarbiturate, meaning it is chemically related to barbiturates but acts differently in the body. Its exact mechanism of action in controlling seizures is not fully understood, but it is believed to involve the stabilization of neuronal membranes, reducing excessive electrical activity in the brain. Primidone is metabolized in the liver into two active compounds, phenobarbital and phenylethylmalonamide (PEMA), both of which also possess anticonvulsant properties.
Mysoline is typically taken orally, in tablet form, and dosage is usually determined by a healthcare professional
