Muskelkraftübertragung

Muskelkraftübertragung, also known as force transmission by muscles, describes the process by which the force generated by muscular contraction is transferred to other parts of the body to produce movement. This transfer is a complex biomechanical phenomenon involving multiple structures.

The primary force generator is the muscle itself, which shortens through the sliding filament mechanism of actin and myosin proteins. This contraction creates tension within the muscle fibers. This tension is then transmitted through the muscle's connective tissues, such as the epimysium, perimysium, and endomysium, which bundle the muscle fibers together.

These connective tissues converge to form tendons, which are strong, fibrous cords that attach muscles to bones. The tendon acts as a conduit, transferring the tensile force generated by the muscle to the periosteum, the outer membrane of the bone.

When the tendon pulls on the bone, it creates a lever arm. The bone then acts as a rigid lever, and the joint serves as the fulcrum. The specific arrangement of muscles, bones, and joints determines the type and magnitude of the resulting movement. For example, in the arm, the biceps muscle contracts to pull on the radius bone, causing flexion at the elbow joint.
