Mushroomstemmed is an informal descriptor used to refer to mushrooms that possess a distinct stalk or stem beneath a cap. The term is not a formal taxonomic category; rather, it is used in horticulture, culinary writing, and general description to contrast with stemless or short-stemmed forms.

In mushroom-stemmed species, the stem varies widely in length, thickness, and texture. Some have slender, graceful stalks; others carry a thick, woody base. The cap and stem together form the basic structure of the fruiting body, with the stem supporting the cap and housing vascular tissue. Gills, pores, or other spore-bearing surfaces are typically attached to the underside of the cap.

For many edible mushrooms, the stem is edible and prepared along with the cap; however, tougher stems may be trimmed or reserved for stocks. In cultivated varieties such as the common button mushroom (Agaricus bisporus) and shiitake (Lentinula edodes), the stem is often eaten, shaved, or cut into pieces. The stem length can influence cooking time and texture.
