Murtumisvastus

Murtumisvastus, often translated as fracture resistance or toughness, is a material property that describes a material's ability to absorb energy and deform plastically before fracturing. It is a measure of a material's resistance to crack propagation. Unlike strength, which indicates the stress a material can withstand before yielding or breaking, murtumisvastus considers the energy required to cause fracture.

Materials with high murtumisvastus can absorb significant amounts of energy without failing catastrophically. This property is crucial in applications where impact or sudden loads are expected, such as in structural components, vehicle parts, and tools.
