Muntzmetalli
Muntzmetalli is a brass alloy composed of approximately 60% copper and 40% zinc. It is also known as Muntz metal, 60/40 brass, or yellow metal. The alloy was developed by George Frederick Muntz in 1832 and patented by him in 1832. Muntzmetalli was widely adopted for use in shipbuilding due to its resistance to seawater corrosion and its relatively low cost compared to other alloys. It was particularly used for sheathing ship hulls, propeller blades, and other marine components.
Beyond its maritime applications, Muntzmetalli has found use in decorative architectural elements, plumbing fixtures, and various
