MultiplexLFIA

MultiplexLFIA refers to multiplex lateral flow immunoassay. This is a type of diagnostic test that can detect multiple analytes simultaneously in a single sample. Lateral flow immunoassays, commonly known as strip tests or dipsticks, are simple devices that detect the presence or absence of a substance in a sample. They typically consist of a sample pad, conjugate pad, nitrocellulose membrane, and absorbent pad. When a sample is applied, it flows along the membrane, encountering reagents that bind to specific target analytes.

Multiplexing these tests allows for the detection of several different targets from one sample, increasing efficiency and potentially reducing the cost per analyte compared to running individual tests. This is achieved by immobilizing multiple different antibodies or antigens at distinct lines or zones on the nitrocellulose membrane. Each zone is designed to capture a specific analyte, and the presence of each analyte is indicated by a visible line, often formed by a colored label conjugated to a detection antibody.

The applications of multiplexLFIA are broad and growing. They are used in clinical diagnostics for detecting multiple infectious diseases, biomarkers for various conditions, or drug screening. In veterinary medicine, they can diagnose multiple infections in animals. Environmental monitoring can also benefit from multiplexLFIA for detecting various pollutants or contaminants. The ability to obtain multiple results from a single, rapid test makes it a valuable tool for point-of-care diagnostics and field-based testing where resources and time may be limited.
