Multipathfel

Multipathfel is a concept used in wireless communications research to describe the aggregate distortion produced by multipath propagation on a received signal. It encapsulates how multiple reflected or refracted copies of the transmitted waveform combine at the receiver, causing fluctuations in amplitude, phase, and arrival time as the radio environment or receiver motion changes.

In channel modeling, multipathfel is represented by parameters such as delay spread, Doppler spread, and coherence bandwidth, and by channel impulse responses that sum several delayed, scaled, and phase-shifted copies of the original signal. It is particularly relevant in dense urban and indoor environments where reflections from walls and objects create complex interference patterns that affect data integrity and timing accuracy.

To mitigate multipathfel, systems employ equalization, diversity reception, MIMO, adaptive modulation, and beamforming. The term is not universally standardized and can be used variably between studies, often overlapping with broader discussions of multipath fading and channel variability rather than constituting a fixed, fixed metric.
