Multinodulair

Multinodulair is a term used in medicine to describe a condition characterized by the presence of multiple nodules. A nodule is a small, rounded mass or lump. The term itself is descriptive and does not refer to a specific disease but rather to a finding or a pattern of presentation of various conditions. Therefore, multinodulair can be applied to different organs or tissues within the body.

For example, multinodulair goiter refers to an enlarged thyroid gland containing multiple nodules. In pulmonology, multinodulair opacities on a chest X-ray or CT scan indicate the presence of numerous small lesions in the lungs. Similarly, in rheumatology, multinodulair vasculitis describes an inflammation of blood vessels that forms multiple nodules. The diagnostic approach and treatment for a multinodulair condition depend entirely on the affected organ and the specific cause of the nodules.
