Multidermatitis

Multidermatitis is a term used to describe the simultaneous presence of multiple distinct types of dermatitis affecting different areas of the skin in an individual. Dermatitis itself is a general term for inflammation of the skin, and it can manifest in various forms, each with its own causes and characteristics. When a person experiences more than one of these conditions concurrently, it is referred to as multidermatitis.

The specific types of dermatitis that can occur together in multidermatitis are numerous. For example, an individual might have atopic dermatitis affecting the flexural areas, contact dermatitis on their hands due to an allergen or irritant, and perhaps seborrheic dermatitis on their scalp and face. The etiology of each distinct dermatitis in multidermatitis can vary; some may be endogenous, like atopic or seborrheic dermatitis, while others are exogenous, such as irritant or allergic contact dermatitis.
