Muistiliitäntä

Muistiliitäntä, known in English as memory interface or memory bus, refers to the electrical pathways and associated protocols that enable a computer's central processing unit (CPU) and other components to communicate with the system's main memory (RAM). This interface is critical for the overall performance of a computer system as it dictates the speed and volume of data that can be transferred between the CPU and RAM.

The muistiliitäntä typically consists of data lines, address lines, and control lines. Data lines carry the actual information being read from or written to memory. Address lines specify the particular location within the RAM that the CPU wishes to access. Control lines manage the timing and direction of data transfer, ensuring that operations like reading and writing occur in the correct sequence.

A wider interface allows for more data to be moved in a single cycle, thus increasing bandwidth.
