Muiderkring
The Muiderkring, also called the Muiderskring, was a Dutch literary circle active in the early 17th century. It formed around the poet and statesman Pieter Corneliszoon Hooft, who hosted gatherings at the Muiderslot, a castle at Muiden near Amsterdam. The circle brought together poets, scholars and artists of the Dutch Golden Age and is regarded as one of the first Dutch literary salons. Its members engaged in discussion of literature, language, classical learning, and contemporary topics, producing poetry, plays and letters that helped shape Dutch literary culture.
