Mpande
Mpande kaSenzangakhona (c. 1798–1872) was the king of the Zulu Kingdom from about 1840 until his death in 1872. A son of Senzangakhona kaJama, he was part of the Zulu royal line and stood as a key figure in the dynasty during a period of intense contact with Boer and British interests in southern Africa. Mpande ascended the throne after the decline of the previous ruler, Dingane, and established a relatively stable leadership that maintained the kingdom’s territorial integrity amid external pressures and internal factionalism.
