Mourillon

Mourillon is a coastal district of the city of Toulon, located in the Var department in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region of southern France. Situated along the southern shore of the Rade de Toulon, it is known for its sheltered beaches, pine-lined promenades, and a family-friendly atmosphere.

The area centers on Plage du Mourillon, a long sandy beach that remains popular with residents and visitors in summer for its shallow waters, lifeguard coverage, and convenient facilities such as playgrounds, snack bars, and boat- and pedal-boat rentals. A tree-lined promenade links the beaches to parks and residential streets, creating a walkable coastal zone.

Historically, Mourillon developed as a seaside resort in the 19th and early 20th centuries, complementing Toulon's naval and commercial activities. The district preserves a number of period villas and fortifications associated with the harbor's defensive works, reflecting its maritime heritage.

Today Mourillon remains a mixed residential and tourist district. In summer it hosts leisure amenities, markets, and cultural events that take advantage of the waterfront location. The area is accessible by road and public transport from central Toulon and serves as a base for coastal walks and water sports.
