Moslashuvini

Moslashuvini is a linguistic term used to describe the process by which borrowed words are morphologically assimilated into a recipient language. It focuses on how loanwords acquire native inflection, derivational patterns, and cliticization, so that they function within the host language's grammar rather than remaining fixed in their source-language form. The term has appeared in studies of Turkic-language contact and is sometimes discussed in Uzbek and Turkish linguistic literature, though its exact origin is uncertain and it is not universally adopted as a formal mechanism.

The central idea of moslashuvini is that borrowing triggers morphosyntactic reanalysis. Phonological changes may be made to fit the language's phonotactics, and the borrowed item may be assigned local affixes for number, definiteness, case, or tense where applicable. In noun borrows, the adapted form may take the recipient language's plural suffixes or possessive endings; in verb borrows, it may be marked for tense, aspect, or mood with native affixes.

In practice, moslashuvini helps explain why borrowed words can look and behave like native words after minimal contact. It can also influence word formation, syntax, and even semantic shift as borrowing evolves over time.
