Morevna

Morevna is a free and open-source animated film project developed by an international group of artists and programmers. The project was established in 2006 and is currently ongoing. Morevna is built using the Free Software Society's nanosoft software framework, which allows for collaborative development and distribution.

The film is planned to be an animated series of 13 episodes, with a total length of approximately 100 minutes. The story is set in a world inspired by Russian folklore, where science and magic exist side by side. Morevna is actually a name in Russian, which translates to "Morning Dew". The plot revolves around a young woman named Morevna, who seeks revenge against her father's murderer. The animation style is a combination of traditional and computer-generated imagery (CGI), with character and background concept art created using the Krita drawing software.

The Morevna project combines traditional animation techniques with modern digital tools, making it an interesting blend of old and new methods. The project's use of open-source software and a collaborative development approach allows for a diverse range of contributors, including artists, writers, and animators. The project's creative director is Alexandr Ustyugov, a Russian animator and artist, while the project's technical leader is Denis Chikeroslovich. The project has received funding from various sources, including the philosophy foundation run by Estonian businessman, Gerard Roozendaal.
