Moongrove

Moongrove is a fictional village and municipality in the Mistwood Highlands, within the duchy of Liria. Located along the Moon River, it serves as a small center for forestry, horticulture, and crafts.

The settlement experiences a temperate, humid climate. Bioluminescent fungi and night-blooming plants grow in the surrounding forests, giving the area a distinctive glow after dusk. The landscape includes gentle hills, dense woodlands, and a broad river valley that supports seasonal agricultural activity.

Moongrove was founded during the Late Medieval period by settlers seeking fertile land and natural protection. The Moon Orchard, a major local producer of fruit and herbal products, became a defining feature. A small watchtower on the hill, later known as the Moonspire, monitored the valley. In the 19th century, Moongrove joined the Emberreach District for administrative purposes.

Economy centers on timber, fruit and herb cultivation, and niche crafts. Tourism is seasonal, focusing on night walks and the Moon Festival. The village is connected by a primary road to the Mistwood Trail and a ferry service on the Moon River, facilitating trade with neighboring communities.

Governance is by a municipal council led by a mayor, with representation from four wards. The population is around 1,600 residents, comprising artisans, farmers, and shopkeepers. Public services include a small primary school and shared municipal facilities.

Cultural life centers on the annual Moon Festival, which includes lantern processions and night markets. Notable sites include the Moonspire watchtower, Silver Bridge, Lumina Orchard, and the Lantern Row market. The community emphasizes conservation and forest stewardship.
