Montessoriluokat

Montessoriluokat are educational environments based on the Montessori method, developed by Dr. Maria Montessori. These classrooms are designed to foster a child's natural development and independence. A key characteristic is the mixed-age grouping, typically spanning three years, such as ages 3-6 or 6-9. This allows older children to act as mentors and younger children to learn from their peers.

The classroom environment is carefully prepared with child-sized furniture and specific learning materials. These materials are self-correcting, meaning children can identify their own errors, promoting self-reliance. The curriculum covers practical life skills, sensorial exploration, language, mathematics, and culture. Children are free to choose their activities from a range of options presented by the teacher, referred to as a guide.

The guide's role is to observe the children, introduce new materials, and support individual learning rather than direct instruction. Emphasis is placed on a prepared environment, freedom within limits, and respect for the child. This approach aims to cultivate concentration, self-discipline, and a lifelong love of learning.
