Monschaus
Monschaus is a fictional planet featured in the science fiction novel "The Mote in God's Eye" by Larry Niven and Jerry Pournelle. It is the homeworld of the Moties, an alien species encountered by humanity. The planet is described as a tidally locked world orbiting a red dwarf star, meaning one side perpetually faces the star (the "sunward" side) and the other faces away (the "darkward" side). This extreme environmental condition has shaped the evolution and society of the Moties.
The surface of Monschaus is characterized by vast, arid plains on the sunward side and frozen wastelands
