Moninpelitila

Moninpelitila is a small uninhabited island in the Finnish Archipelago, located in the Gulf of Finland. It is situated approximately 1.5 kilometers southeast of the island of Haronsaari, in the municipality of Hangö.

The island is characterized by a small, irregular shape and a relatively flat terrain. Moninpelitila has a total area of approximately 6.4 hectares, and its highest point is around 14 meters above sea level. The island is covered with a mixture of grass, moss, and scrub vegetation.

Moninpelitila is known for its distinctive geological features, which include a number of glacial erratics and rocks of varied origin. The island's geology is primarily composed of granite, gneiss, and sandstone, which are evidence of the complex tectonic history of the region.

The island is part of the Hangö National Park, a protected area established in 1998 to preserve the natural and cultural heritage of the archipelago. Moninpelitila is also listed as a Bird Protection Area due to its importance as a breeding ground for various bird species, including the bird of prey and the gull.

Moninpelitila is generally accessible by boat, with frequent ferry services connecting the island to the mainland and other neighboring islands. However, due to its remote location and limited infrastructure, tourism and human activity on the island are minimal. As a result, Moninpelitila remains a pristine and undisturbed natural environment, providing a unique opportunity for scientific research and conservation efforts.
