Mojangs
Mojang, commonly referred to as Mojang Studios, is a Swedish video game developer and publisher best known for Minecraft. The company was founded in 2009 by Markus Persson in Stockholm, Sweden, as Mojang AB. The name is derived from the Swedish word mojäng, meaning gadget or gizmo. Mojang rose to prominence with the release of Minecraft, an indie sandbox game that expanded through early-access and full launch in 2011, followed by ongoing updates and platform expansions. Persson left the company in 2011, with Jens Bergensten taking lead development.
In 2014, Microsoft acquired Mojang AB for $2.5 billion. The acquisition integrated Mojang into Microsoft Studios,
Minecraft has multiple editions, including Java Edition and Bedrock Edition, and has expanded into spin-off titles
