Moginsk

Moginsk is a town and the administrative center of Tver Oblast, Russia. It is located on the Suvorov Road from Kashin to Tver. As of the 2020 census, the population was 57,861 people.

The town was founded in 1840 and initially served as a small settlement for workers building the Saint Petersburg-Vyborg railway. In 2004, Moginsk received the town's status, according to a decision of the government of Tver Oblast. Since the late 19th century, the town has been known for its woodworking and furniture production industries.

Moginsk is home to the Tver Railway Institute and a branch of the Moscow state University of Technology and Management. The town also has a small but notable museum, featuring exhibits on local history and culture. The local economy remains primarily focused on woodworking and small-scale manufacturing.

Moginsk is served by a railway line from Tver to Moscow (via Beesh in Yaroslav Oblast) and by road connections to both Tver and Kashin. The area has limited tourist attractions, but is situated on the Tatishchevo Nature Park, which offesred some recreational and hiking opportunities. The surrounding regions experience a humid continental climate, characterized by cold, snowy winters and warm summers.

The area around Moginsk is heavily forested and remote, making it sparsely populated. The town's proximity to the regional capital of Tver and historical sites such as the Uspensky Konev estates contribute to its local economy and architectural presence.
