Mobiltelefonhálózatok

Mobiltelefonhálózatok, commonly referred to as mobile networks, are the communication infrastructure that enables mobile phones and other wireless devices to connect and communicate with each other and the wider telecommunications network. These networks are typically operated by mobile network operators (MNOs) and are divided into distinct geographical areas called cells, hence the term "cellular network". Each cell is served by a base station, also known as a cell tower, which transmits and receives radio signals to and from mobile devices within its coverage area.

The core of a mobile network consists of several key components. The Radio Access Network (RAN) handles the wireless communication between mobile devices and the base stations. This includes base stations and their associated controllers. The Core Network is responsible for managing calls, data sessions, user authentication, and routing traffic to other networks. It includes elements like mobile switching centers and serving gateways. Mobile phones connect to the RAN, and when a call or data session is initiated, the RAN forwards the request to the Core Network for processing.

Mobile networks have evolved significantly over the years, with each generation offering improved capabilities. The first generation (1G) was analog and supported voice calls only. Second generation (2G) introduced digital transmission, enabling SMS and basic data services. Third generation (3G) brought faster data speeds, facilitating mobile internet access and video calls. Fourth generation (4G), or LTE, further increased speeds, making high-definition video streaming and gaming practical. The current fifth generation (5G) promises even faster speeds, lower latency, and the capacity to connect a massive number of devices, paving the way for new applications like the Internet of Things (IoT) and autonomous vehicles.
